Website Design and the Related Misconceptions

There is no denying of the fact that the internet today is the most popular electronic media for almost everything. A person can find information about the day-to-day essentials or can even promote his/her philosophical thoughts via the internet. All that is required is a relevant website. In short, a website is capable of serving almost all the purposes (probably exaggerated but to some extent it is true)! As a result, comes the need of designing a website that serves a specific purpose. There are some misconceptions related to the website designing. This article intends to discuss them and they will probably be helpful in your design!

Misconception related to loading speed of the website: Yes, the world is fast! People barely have time (except for some critiques of yours). Given these conditions, it is logical to think that a website will perform if the content is good and there is no need for animation or java scripts or even sounds. This is however, not an eternal truth! Animation, sound, or applets play a significant role when included in the correct places. These animations or applets can make the website heavy and they consume a lot of time when they try to load. You can avoid this by not including them! It is not an impressive solution! Loading depends on the internet speed. Greater the speed, faster is the loading. What will happen if the pre-loader scripts are used? These scripts are used to speed up the loading of big files that include sounds, animations, and applets. Therefore, the conception of including only the best of the contents is now a history.

Graphics: Including a graphic design in a website is not a bad idea. However, in cases that graphic design is just for visual elegance, including it can be annoying for the visitors. Graphics are heavy files and they slow down the pace in which a page loads. If the graphic design is a logo or has some informational value, it is logical to include the same but for mere beauty, a big graphic design in the website is not advisable. In addition, if you still want to include one, make sure that it is small and does not take a lot of time to load.

Possible ways to avoid inconvenience:

          1.  Reduce the number of graphics.
          2.  Reduce the size of the graphcs by cutting down on the colors and reduce the number of frames in case of animations.
          3.  Use a white page with black text fr the convenience of reading.  In addition, it is good to use small paragraphs and avoid the inclusion of too much text in a big block.
          4.  Avoid duplication of the frame backgrounds in the animations.

Conclusion:

It is good to have a beautiful website that can attract people. However, it is essential at the same time to display a good and relevant content. No matter what, most of the people will re-visit the website only because the content is informative. Making the website unnecessarily heavy and time consuming can push the website in the list of least visited lot!
